A session download contains all eight tapes, the vocal loop, patterns, patches, notes and MIDI mappings. Audio stays on this device. Download before closing the page.
TAPE / 8 TRACKS
120 seconds at normal tape speed · stereo tracks · one undo per trackArm records the live instrument after its effects. Mute and solo affect listening and mix printing. Tape-only switches off the live instrument; its recording keeps playing. Print mix captures the performance without the metronome. Stop before undo, clearing, seeking or exporting.

Voice / loop & playable sample
Loop recording begins on the next bar. Up to 30 seconds; imported sounds use the first 30 seconds.
Sing one steady note, record a loop, then detect its root and play it from the keys or MPE. Detection estimates a single fundamental; complex chords and noisy loops need a root set by ear. Resampling changes pitch and duration together. Internal resampling taps live instruments before their effects.
Draw or drag notes vertically. Drag a note’s right edge for length. Double-click removes it. Select a numbered step for exact note, chance, gate, velocity and repeats. Pattern changes enter at the next phrase boundary. Record notes uses the metronome/count-in and quantises to this track’s steps; live gestures remain continuous.
Each letter plays one bar. Write independent chains of A–H for each track; chains repeat independently. Set a track to Tape-only to arrange against an existing recording.
Working with the tape studio
Build a phrase on a track and enable Sequence. Play starts all enabled phrases and the tape. Record armed adds the live parts to their own tape tracks after the count-in. Stop, rewind, disarm those tracks and choose Tape-only to hear the recording without doubling its live part. Arm a different track and record the next pass.
Tape speed changes both pitch and duration. The sequencers retain the chosen tempo: playing or recording against half-speed tape is a deliberate new relationship. Replace punches into the time you actually record; it preserves material outside that pass. Undo swaps the most recent tape pass or clear operation. This browser tape holds two minutes at normal speed, allocated only as you record.
Use headphones for vocal monitoring. The metronome is audible but excluded from the eight tape tracks and mix print. Start audio reports browser base latency; it is not a measurement of microphone round-trip delay. Escape releases notes and stops transport. Device disconnection releases held MIDI notes.
