The editorial position
We care about the resulting sound and the person performing it. A firmware modification, a Raspberry Pi, a browser patch or a careful controller mapping is interesting when it creates a musical possibility. The journal brings project documentation into conversation with practical experiments. Buying another device is one possible answer; making the existing one more playable is often a better place to begin.
Published by Mark C Grant, alongside Kuwa Mashine, Watercolourist and Captured Moment. This opening edition combines original editorial, source research and independently written browser instruments. Articles are research-based studies, not claims of hands-on hardware testing. No manufacturer sponsors or endorses these instruments.
Sources and corrections
Each article links its primary sources. We distinguish official support, community experiments and our own proposed exercises. Compatibility is dated; installations should follow the current maintainer instructions. The archive grows cumulatively, keeping older pieces discoverable and correcting material errors in place. No invented testimonials, community posts or test results are used.
Your sound stays here
The instruments process audio in your browser. Microphone permission is requested only when you arm an input. This site does not upload your audio, recordings, source files or MIDI messages. Session settings may be stored in local browser storage; downloads are files on your device. Closing the page ends its audio processing. The hosting provider may retain ordinary request logs.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the ordinary browser request needed to serve them. Source links leave this site and follow their respective privacy policies. The Watch page loads thumbnail images from YouTube. Video players connect to YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed host only after you choose Play video; those external services apply their own privacy policies. There is no first-party analytics script or account system in this release.
Elsewhere in the family
Kuwa Mashine explores interactive audiovisual work. Watercolourist brings the same practical curiosity to painting. Captured Moment is a photographic journal. Visit Mark’s studio for the wider practice.
The exchange / accounts & contributions
The exchange stores usernames, password hashes, recovery-code hashes, posts, moderated photographs and video links on this site’s server. It uses an essential, secure session cookie. Keep your recovery code: no email address is collected and there is no email password reset. Rate limiting stores keyed hashes of network addresses for limited windows.
New posts and replies wait for editorial review. Only upload photographs you own or have permission to share; photographs are resized and metadata is stripped. Do not include private information. Public contributions are visible to other readers. Use Report on a post to request review or removal, including removal of your own contribution; the editor can hide content and suspend accounts. Contact and wider editorial details are available through Mark’s studio.
External video players connect to their provider when played. Film saves and tried markers use local browser storage; clearing site data removes them. Sharing buttons open the chosen service only when selected.
