The beat machine.
Harp, bass, drums and drone. Add your voice. Shape a pattern into a performance.
Start audio, then Play. The sequencer runs on the audio thread.
Play the strings.
Press and sweep across the strings. Height shapes the pluck and colour; touch pressure gives each note weight. Hold & bend keeps a note under each finger. MPE hardware: pitch bends each note, slide opens its colour, pressure adds body and intensity. Live playing works with the sequencer stopped.
Harp: A S D F G H J K. Drums: Z X C V. Space plays/stops. Escape clears notes and effects. Use headphones when monitoring a live microphone.
Draw a bass line.
Draw sweeps a line of pitches into the pattern. Pitch & length: grab a note’s starting column, drag up/down to change pitch and left/right to shorten/extend it. Erase removes steps. A later bass note retriggers the monophonic voice. Bright rows show scale notes, root on the marked line; visible range −7 to +14 degrees.
Build the phrase.
Sixteen sixteenth notes / one bar. A pattern change waits for the next bar.
Click a step to switch it on/off and edit it. Drag up/down for pitch (or drum velocity), left/right for note length. Shift-click selects without changing it. Degree 0 is the root; 7 moves up a seven-note scale. Drum gates are fixed by their envelopes; the drone gate is measured in bars. Chance is evaluated on every pass.
Audio in / out
Input permission is requested when you arm the voice channel.
A local file can use the voice channel too. Your audio stays in this browser.
Use a wired audio interface for consistent latency. The figures above are browser estimates, not measured microphone round-trip latency. Bluetooth can add substantial delay. Input channels depend on what the browser exposes from your interface.
MIDI / performance and mapping
Touch and computer keys work without MIDI.
Live harp preserves each note’s pitch bend, pressure and CC74 slide. Pressure adds body and level; slide opens the upper harmonics. Expression is smoothed and never changes sequenced notes. Match the bend range to your controller; the default is the standard MPE ±48 semitones. Drums respond to 36 kick, 38 snare, 42/46 hat and 49/51 metal. Mappings are handled before note playing. Incoming clock supplies tempo; Start, Continue and Stop control the sequence. Clock loss stops it.
Session notes / recording details
Record runs independently of Play, so you can capture a vocal before the beat and leave space for the ending. Stop recording, then download the stereo 24-bit WAV. A new take replaces the last; maximum ten minutes. Session files save both patterns, mixer, effects and MIDI mappings. They do not contain audio, device permissions or selected files. Loading a session stops transport and disconnects the live input.
